Garden Biodiversity Curriculum 3rd-6th grade

Garden Biodiversity Curriculum designed for the Beacon Community Summer Program at East Side Community High School for several weeks during the summer.

Laura created a summer curriculum to empower students to engage with a local community garden space.

Lesson 1: Students will learn and understand the properties of common tools/objects found in a garden. Students will be able to learn about edible and non edible plants, as well as being able to distinguish the two.

Lesson 2: Students will learn about the chemistry behind the different functions of plants and their structure, by understanding the natural process that they undergo with the environment.

Lesson 3: Students will dive into the different uses of plants and what other purposes, aside from providing oxygen and food, they serve in biodiversity.
